Bike Power in NYC: featuring Austin Horse and Bosch eBike Systems
Get to know Austin Horse, founder of nonprofit mobile bike service Bike Yard (www.wayofthebike.com), and follow him around New York City as he uses his Bosch-powered Xtracycle Edgerunner 10E to help racers prepare their bikes for the 2015 Red Bull Mini Drome in Brooklyn, NY. Austin comfortably navigates the NYC streets with his 200 pound trailer in tow thanks to Bosch’s pedal-assist eBike technology. This helps Bike Yard with the long haul trips in order to be part of the NYC cycling community events.

How do you train for fixed gear crits, like the Red Hook Crit? Here we have David Santos from Aventon Factory team doing and advanced training technique called motorpacing, where the rider rides behind the draft of the motorcycle. He will get up to about 30MPH in the draft of the motorbike, and then sprint past. We’ll post some video of David’s race bike, and talk about gearing and equipment choices for fixed gear crit racing soon. In a few weeks we’ll post some adventures from the Red Hook Crit Milano, and then Slovenia

The Red Hook Criterium, the world’s premier track bike criterium series, returns to Barcelona’s Parc del Fòrum for the fourth consecutive year on Saturday, August 27. Qualification gets underway from 12:00 with the feature races starting at 20:00 and finally the podium ceremony from 22:30, all against the spectacular backdrop of the Mediterranean sea. The race is free for spectators and all are welcome for what promises to be a thrilling day of world class racing and entertainment. Food and beverage vendors will be on-site throughout the day including the Moritz VIP lounge. Custom Red Hook Crit Barcelona apparel is available from the merchandise booth where you can get a free Rockstar Games cowbell to cheer on your favourite athletes. At the end of the night the legendary Soren Manzoni (Nasty Mondays) takes the reigns to play an exclusive set at the official Red Hook Crit after-party sponsored by Moritz and located at Parc del Fòrum.

Velodrom d’Horta played host to the 1992 Summer Olympics and was also the venue for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 1984. This wonderful track allows our racers to stretch their legs on the boards before the taking to the asphalt for the crit two days later.
